WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Welcome to the Neighborhood is an ongoing photographic explotation of cities and the communities that give them character.
Soria explores neighborhoods through observation, and photographic documentation, building an archive of architecture, iconic signage, cultural markers, and everyday details. These photographs are then reconstructed into large-scale composite cityscapes of each neighborhood, creating an preception of place that exists somewhere between documentation, memory, and imagination.
The project asks what makes a neighborhood recognizable, what changes when a place is redeveloped, and what remains in our memory after the landscape has changed.
